Program Summary
Power's Safety Program is designed to deliver each project with zero incidents. Key principles that guide its safety program include:
- Provide employees with the information and resources to best recognize and control the exposures created by construction activities.
- Utilize experience and lessons learned to develop best practices, training and consistency in our operations.
- Empower employees to address hazards and safety concerns prior to and during the project.
- Proactively partner with owners, subcontractors, labor unions and government agencies to achieve a safe project site.
Safety Training
Power’s focus on training and education creates project teams and a workforce that are knowledgeable about safety, prepared to address workplace hazards, and possess a high level of awareness for safety. With emphasis on continual education, consistent use of best practices, proactive support and resources, safety is an integral part of Power's culture.
This process starts with two levels of safety orientation, OSHA 10 or 30-hour training, and site-specific safety orientation that continues year-round. Safety performance, as well as training and program participation, are key elements to Power’s performance evaluation process. Along those same lines, Power utilizes the lessons we learn on projects to continually improve the safety program and the organization. Incidents and near misses are reported and analyzed in order to develop and revise procedures.
Site Safety Coordinators
In addition, Power utilizes its tradespeople to elevate the safety culture on each project. The company’s Site Safety Coordinator program provides training, guidelines and support for these individuals who handle many of the day-to-day safety activities that occur on Power projects. The Site Safety Coordinator on a project may be responsible for site orientations, safety observations, documentation, program enforcement, issue resolution, as well as additional corporate responsibilities.
